About the Event

From perfecting accents to vocal safety, voice and dialect coaching is an integral part of how we share stories onstage.

In this free event, hear from Nikki Shiels (A Streetcar Named Desire), Bert LaBonté  (Topdog/Underdog), Voice and Dialect Coaches Geraldine Cook-Dafner (A Streetcar Named Desire) and Mark Wong (English) on the use of voice and dialect on Australian stages today, and how it’s evolving for the future.

Hosted by Melbourne Theatre Company Resident Director Tasnim Hossain (English), this event is presented in partnership with the Voice and Speech Trainers Association as part of the 2024 Melbourne symposium.

This is a free event held in the Level 1 Foyer of Southbank Theatre. Bookings are required as seating, by general admission, is limited. Standing Room will be available.
