Join Melbourne Theatre Company staff and artists for an inspiring day of workshops and panels on Zoom. Each special guest will nurture your inner artist with insights into their theatre-making process and activities to get your creative juices flowing. You'll also have access to Q&A sessions during the day, and digital resources to use later in your classroom.
The day includes 4 sessions: digital theatre-making with Roshelle Fong; directing with Katy Maudlin; lighting design with Amelia Lever-Davidson; and acting with Emily Havea and Ursula Searle. Explore the schedule below to learn more.
SESSION 1: DIGITAL THEATRE-MAKING
Join multi-disciplinary artist Roshelle Fong (Cybec Electric 2022, Laurinda Assistant Director) to explore the possibilities of digital theatre-making tools and practices.
10am - 11am
SESSION 2: DIRECTING
Director Katy Maudlin (SLAP. BANG. KISS.) shares insights into her work and explores various approaches to bringing text to life on stage.
11.30am - 1pm
SESSION 3: LIGHTING DESIGN
Lighting Designer Amelia Lever-Davidson (Admissions, SLAP. BANG. KISS.) introduces the basics of theatre lighting design, with examples from her work at MTC.
2pm - 3.15pm
SESSION 4: ACTING PANEL
Join actors Emily Havea and Ursula Searle from Fun Home for a conversation about their work on stage with insights into the rehearsal process.
3.45pm - 4.30pm

$135 per participant (50% discount for pre-service teachers). Payment via invoice. Bookings are now closed.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The day includes the four sessions as listed above. The day runs 10am-4.30pm with 30min tea breaks and a 1hr lunch break.
Each session will be delivered live via Zoom. Just click the link from your email confirmation to join and enter your password.
You’ll need a strong internet connection to participate. Zoom recommends an internet speed of 1.5 megabits per second (mbps). Test your internet speed at speedtest.net. We encourage you to have your camera on and use your microphone to actively participate.
These PD sessions address the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 2.1, 2.6, 6.2, 6.3 and 7.4.
This event is exclusively for educators. We welcome registrations from teachers, CRTs, pre-service teachers and those with a non-practising registration. These sessions will not be recorded.
